Payload increase

In our house we have two machine ranges, one has a wheel diameter of 190 mm, the larger one is with 300 mm. Starting with the smaller size, our Orbiter S carries 1000 kg of payload. The advantage is that we can use 24 V DC as the operating voltage and all component sizes are still small enough to fit into the 1 x 1 m frame size of the Orbiter. This limit is broken once you have more than 1000 kg to move. In this case we will increase the frame size and add additional axles with wheels that do not necessarily contain a motor. This makes it possible to still use the 24 V DC while increasing the payload.

To increase the payload further, we recommend to use two or more Orbiter S that move as one - Master/Slave compound system. This can be done until you connect 8 Orbiter that are redefined as one!

Naturally, this approach has its limits too. If you envision larger payloads in general, you might start with our larger wheel diameter. This is the Orbiter M as our standard vehicle and can be enlarged in the same way as the Orbiter S: We can change the frame size to assemble additional support wheels, and you can finally use the Master/Slave technique to build a compund vehicle of up to 8 Orbiter M. Imagine what a large structure can be moved seemlessly and omnidirectionally!

And to take versatility to the extreme, you can also use combinations of M and S orbiters together to create a composite vehicle.

Axle options

Each Orbiter S axle has 8 positions to mount the damper elements. Use the 4 outer positional option for stiff movement over high-quality, flat surfaces. If your floor conditions are not optimal, you can change the mounting positons to the inner 4 on the axles. That does not require surfaces with high planarity, it will enable better oscillation of the axle to take irregularities into account.            

Sometimes, however, one needs a regular pendulum axle to account for even worse floor conditions. In our industry projects we developed such an axle with the mounting position centered in the frame. This is easily assembled in our Orbiter S too, for communication of such needs please ask our Technical Support.
