Mecanum Orbiter S

The workhorse of our vehicle range

As if on a cushion of air, our Mecanum Orbiter stage cart moves your stage set gently and precisely, helping to make your event unforgettable.

The Orbiter S is the workhorse of our vehicle range. For many years, it has been providing reliable service on stages worldwide.

With more than 180 satisfied customers, the Orbiter S supports everyday stage operations with full omnidirectional mobility, complemented by professional stage features such as master–slave effects and interfaces for external control systems.

Building on the core features developed over 10 years ago, we have added many practical refinements based on real-world customer experience: at-a-glance battery status, a removable emergency stop, brake release, an intuitive colour scheme for remote controls, and many other details that make the Orbiter S exceptionally easy to operate.

Although it is the entry model in our stage-wagon portfolio, the Orbiter S can already adapt its geometry: by removing and repositioning the axles, you can adjust wheelbase and track width to fit your load perfectly and integrate seamlessly into your stage design. Users also value the extensive settings options, including speed and acceleration limits and the impressive virtual rotation point function.

All of these options are just a click away via our parameterisation unit, which serves as an extended human–machine interface (HMI).

Ideal for show effects and stage design

Our electric drive modules are self-contained drive units for stage decks and platform systems, turntables, and other structures of virtually any shape. They enable a full range of horizontal motion—from simple transport tasks to highly complex scenic transformations. Decorative elements, stage platforms, set pieces, and performers can all be moved smoothly and precisely. Because no cables, rails, or guide systems are required, designers have complete freedom when planning movement paths and scenic effects.

Each drive module is delivered fully assembled and ready for use. Core components - including the Mecanum wheel, motor, gearbox, safety control unit, radio receiver, and batteries—are integrated into a single compact unit. Power is supplied by maintenance-free lead-gel batteries, while control commands are transmitted via a certified safety radio system. The modules are compatible with many common stage platform and frame systems and can be integrated easily into a structure to become operational immediately.

Control is available via a portable radio control panel or through a computer-based control system using our CAN interface or PROFINET (optional).

We move stages

Because Mecanum systems can rotate in place, additional rotating tables for tool-change carts or mobile assembly platforms become unnecessary. In theatre and entertainment applications, a Mecanum vehicle can serve simultaneously as a moving stage platform and a turntable. This not only saves space but also time – consider the complexity of parking manoeuvres. Instead of carefully steering through tight curves, moving back and forth until reaching the correct position, a Mecanum vehicle simply drives next to the gap and moves directly sideways into it – with millimeter precision.

Dynamic stage elements are now an essential part of today's television shows. Our mobile drive systems enable magical, unprecedented stage effects for theatre productions, musicals, TV shows and theme parks. Have you ever seen a rotating sofa on TV? Rotating seating elements are already popular in stage design – but the future of stage technology requires more than simple rotation or linear motion on rails.

Mecanum wheels make entirely new effects and movements possible. The possibilities for stage design are endless: freely moving set pieces in all directions create breathtaking effects that amaze audiences. Imagine combining the freedom of a hovercraft with the precision and safety of a CNC machine to give directors full creative control and peace of mind.
